Lots of people have told you that you should run. Many friends and family have offered to volunteer to help with your campaign. Who else do you need? You need us!
We are working for gender parity. We stand with our sisters in all parts of the world who are striving for the same goal. Our support package is modeled after those volunteer organizations across the globe who are reaching out to women who want to run for political office.
We provide a complete set of distinct services. Not only would you not find them elsewhere, but you would not be looking for them as you have not identified them as something you should seek out.
Even before you make the decision to run, our Candidate Support Team is there for you to help you discern if the political life is for you. Once your decision is final, they are available to you to help you work through issues as they arise. They understand the added pressures of political life and can help you sort out priorities and suggest paths forward. Rather than unload your concerns on a partner, family , friend or campaign team members, the Candidate Support volunteers are available to listen. They can offer a fresh perspective. They are a welcome retreat when family, work, social and campaign commitments pull you in a number of different directions.
The Candidate Support Team developed the 8 session campaign school. Each session will be led by one or more capable presenters. Each will be experienced and command expertise in their topic area. Their advice will be supported by true to life examples that underline their teachings. Each session will be followed by a Question and Answer session.. Videos of the first 6 sessions, power points and resource materials supplied by the presenters will be made available to Women + in Politics candidates.
Each candidate who requests matching will be partnered with a mentor. Each female mentor is an experienced campaigner who has run at the municipal or provincial level. These volunteers, all avid supporters of women in politics, have a understanding of the challenges and joys of being a woman running for political office
From time to time, candidates will gather in an online Candidate Chat. These informal conversations are directed by the candidates. There is a depth of sharing and caring that occurs when women get together to debrief their campaign week. By sharing their experiences, resources and perspectives with their peers, the women empower one another. The chats often act as an incubator for new ideas. The topics of conversation alert the Candidate Support, Volunteer Support and Public Relations teams to common concerns and issues. The teams then brainstorm to find ways to alleviate concerns, respond to identified needs, and act upon suggestions offered.
When women run, they get elected. Being a woman candidate is not easy. If it were our council chambers and legislatures would be 50% women. We want to make the campaign path easier for you to navigate. We are committed to walking with you in the hard times and celebrating with you in your successes. We are a group of volunteers committed to supporting you in your election bid. We are Women + in Politics Fredericton!
