Women+ in Politics Fredericton (WIPF) is an organization dedicated to supporting gender parity and diversity on Fredericton City Council.
We acknowledge that we live and work on the traditional unceded territory of the Welastekwiyik (Maliseet) and Mi’kmaq peoples.
Our Mission
We are working toward gender parity in the Fredericton City Council. A more balanced council means better representation for Frederictonians. More women at the table will change the conversation and improve decision-making.
Statistics show that women are more intent in listening to the citizens, more collaborative in going about their work and more innovative in finding solutions to long-term problems. Women encourage more diverse voices and create a safe working environment.
We believe all women can embrace who they are, can define their future, and can change the world.
Our Mandate
Our mandate is to have one or more women running for each position on city council and in the regional health authority and district education council.
We will do that by encouraging women to run, offering a campaign school, and providing ongoing support. We will assist them in getting their names, faces and platform known in the community.
